WWW Wednesday 10/14/20

I love WWW Wednesdays. Here, we get to talk about what we just read, what we are currently reading, and what we want to read next. WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking On A World Of Words. If you haven’t already, you should check them out!

What I Just Finished

I most recently finished Fire With Fire by Destiny Soria, which was a really interesting diverse fantasy about dragons and sisterhood. I have mixed feelings about it, but enjoyed it overall. I also finished an audiobook this week: Crush by Tracy Wolff. I have a few misgivings with this one, but overall I really enjoyed it. I definitely liked it more than book one, Crave, which I gave 3/5 stars.

What I Am Currently Reading

I am STILL reading Dracula, although I’m almost done with it. I’ve been pacing myself to try to finish it around Halloween, and I think I’ll probably make that goal. I’m also reading A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik, and I am really enjoying it. I just started The Lantern’s Ember by Colleen Houck, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. We shall see. I’m about halfway through Sunshine by Robin McKinley, which I’m enjoying although it is taking me a surprisingly long time to get through. My new audiobook is Blue Bloods by Melissa De La Cruz. Again, not sure how I feel about it.

What I Want To Read Next

Clearly, I’ve bitten off a big chunk at the moment, so I’m not thinking too much about what I’ll read next. I have holds on several September releases that I am still waiting on at my library, so they will (hopefully) be my next reads. Among them are Fable by Adrienne Young and The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, which I feel like I’ve been waiting for for FOREVER. I also want to re-read The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer Nielsen because the fourth book just came out (I know, what? I thought it was a trilogy!!), and the second book in the Blood of Eden series by Julie Kagawa is on my shelf.

  1. I hope you like a Deadly Education! It seems to have mixed reviews, but is still on my TBR, Also, what are your thoughts on Dracula? I have had to read it a couple of times for various classes, and still feel like it could have been at least 100 pages shorter. Also, the xenophobia… haha. Hope you enjoy! Happy reading ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I am really enjoying it so far! This is the first Naomi Novik book I’ve read, and I’m excited to check out some of her other works. I like Dracula overall, but it is definitely very long. Considering the time period it was written in, I think it is fairly progressive, but there is definitely some inherent prejudice there, lol. Thanks so much and you as well! ๐Ÿ™‚
